Moore College of Art & Design was named Best Arts School in Philadelphia in Metro Philly’s annual “Philly’s Best” program, a citywide competition that recognizes the organizations shaping Philadelphia’s cultural and economic landscapes.
Each year, Metro Philly invites the public to nominate and vote for their favorite local business, schools and services. With reader votes cast across hundreds of categories, the “Philly’s Best” winners represent the very best of the city, selected entirely by the people who live, work and create here.
Moore’s recognition as Best Arts School reflects the College’s reputation as a leader in art and design education. From its prime location as the only college in the Parkway Museums District, Moore offers BFA programs spanning 10 majors—including a new major in Entertainment Design—along with youth, graduate and adult education.
Moore graduates make up nearly 200 years of groundbreaking creatives, from the first woman to design a postage stamp to Project Runway winners, Emmy Award–winning costume designers, and Pulitzer Prize–winning photographers. 91% of 2024 BFA alumni are employed or in graduate school just one year out from graduation.*
“We’re thrilled to be recognized by Metro readers as Philly’s best arts school!” said President Cathy Young. “Our focus on preparing artists and designers for career success—in fast-evolving fields like animation, game design, illustration, interior design and fashion—makes Moore a center for creativity and innovation in the city of Philadelphia and beyond. Thank you, Metro readers!”
Moore is the only art and design college that provides a $1,000 paid internship for every student, creating experiences that open doors to future opportunities. Moore’s Locks Career Center is a hub of lifelong career support for both students and alumni, and the College’s new partnership with Adobe is expanding resources for students.
Deeply embedded in the city’s art scene, Moore has also played a key role in preserving and supporting Philadelphia’s artistic legacy. Earlier this year, Moore became the official provider of transcript services for alumni and former students of the University of the Arts, having served as a teach-out partner to support displaced students after the school’s closure in 2024. Moore’s growing partnerships with local museums and cultural institutions like The Franklin Institute further reflect its position as a champion of Philadelphia’s creative community.
