Moore’s Graduate Studies community consists of unique programs in Socially Engaged Art, Socially Engaged Studio Art and Art Education with an Emphasis in Special Populations that prepare motivated people of all identities with the skills, knowledge and resources to become professional artists, designers and teachers. Here are exciting updates happening with graduate students past and present, as well as faculty members.

Dafna Steinberg MFA '22 will be in Sheer Madness: Juried Collage Exhibition from January 13 through February 6, 2021 at Northville Art House in Northville, MI. Steinberg is part of a collective of women artists called CTRL-ALT-DEL, who were awarded a Wherewithal Research Grant to build a visual language analyzing cyberpsychology, machine-learning technology, and popular internet culture. Steinberg was also published in Push Up Daisies!, Create! and Filth magazines.

Kathy Scott Bachofer MFA '19 recently launched Nature’s Dye Studio as a business.

Gina D’Emilio MFA '13 is in the group exhibition “Fragments” at Arc Gallery in San Francisco showing a new collage, juried by Jen Tough from Jen Tough Gallery. She is also part of a virtual artist residency with Proyectos De Residencia (PRMX) in Mexico City, and is publishing a collage in a book called Beautiful Foot by artist/author Nora Novak.

Kristen Shahverdian MA '19 is publishing a chapter with Carolyn Chernoff in a book on dreams and trauma.

Chelsey Webber Brandis MFA '20 and Kristen Shahverdian are going to be part of a panel at College Art Association in February.

Laura Petrovich-Cheney MFA '11 has an upcoming live interview on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 7:30 pm, hosted by Women of Woodworking on Instagram Live. She is also featured in the exhibition Radical Tradition: American Quilts and Social Change at Toledo Museum of Art, Toledo, OH, through Feb. 14, 2021. She has a solo exhibition at New England Quilt Museum, Lawrence, MA, October 5 to December 30, 2021. She had write-ups in North Shore Homes (Winter 2021, page 31), Lived-In Style magazine (Fall 2020) and Quilt Folk Magazine (issue 16: Family, “Laura’s Wooden Blocks” by Kestrel Michaud). Petrovich-Cheney is now represented by Ray Wiggs Gallery in Provincetown, MA.

Alicia Grullón (new MFA visiting faculty member and Moore's 2020 Walentas Fellow) has a solo exhibition opening this week at SPACES in Cleveland.

Associate Professor of Fine Arts Asuka Goto will present her sabbatical work February 18, 2021, in The Galleries at Moore "Art at Dinner" virtual lecture series.

Graduate Program Director Daniel Tucker has just published a dialogue called "Displacemaking" with Cassie Fennell in The Routledge Handbook of Placemaking. See video from his recent panel discussion for the Power Map residency at Mural Arts featuring Marie Alarcon, Ken McFarlane, Mark Strandquist and Courtney Bowles, Studio 22 (Nasheli Juliana Ortiz, Marién Vélez and Lorna Mulero) and Eva Wǒ.
