A team of Moore students won "Best Character Design" in the fifth annual Iron Animator competition, held March 1 and 2 at Delaware College of Art and Design.

Ariana WilliamsChianna MacMaxine Boucher and Sarah Barden of Team Toad won "Best Character Design" with their animation "Magic-Gun Dungeon II."

Two other Moore teams competed. They included Jen MurrayOlivia PavucekAbbey BricknerMadi DiazJade Peters and Annais Delgado.

Twenty-seven animators on eight teams participated, including students from Moore, DCAD, University of the Arts, Pratt Institute and Cab Calloway School of the Arts.

The competitors had two days to create an original animated story based on a prompt: "If someone stumbled upon an object that controlled luck, what would they use it for? Include an instance where that power backfires." The animators also had to incorporate a laser sound effect. DCAD faculty member Kofi Sarfo served as master of ceremonies and provided the prompt. Tad Sare coordinated the event.

Other winners were:

Best Visual Gag: "Crime Dog" by Emma Harkin, Meredith Little and Lauren Williams.

Best Visual Gag, too: "Lucky Miss" by Angel Hall, Sara Brush, Jaymen Tucker and Matthew Terry.

Most Compelling Story: "Aw, Shoot" by Lana Gerace, Emily Rebold and Angel Kawash.
