The Philadelphia Inquirer recently featured Moore College of Art & Design as the only remaining independent art & design college in Philadelphia. The publication spoke with Moore president Cathy Young and highlighted Moore as a small school making a big difference for former UArts students and their families.

"We recognized that this is a terribly confusing, upsetting experience for students and their parents," Young said. "We take very seriously our responsibility and opportunity to really support these students."

Moore added additional staff and faculty (including eight UArts faculty members); matched UArts scholarships, provided personalized admissions counseling; and added additional living spaces, studio spaces and furniture to accommodate the influx of new students. The Inquirer also touched on Moore's efforts to create a visibly welcoming environment for former UArts students with the addition of Goat, a sculpture created by Moore Illustration senior and former UArts student Zivia Brown '25, at the College's front entrance.

President Cathy Young spoke about Moore's strong financial position, career development and responsibility to support students as the only only independent art and design college in Philadelphia.

"When you see these art and design institutions close, there’s a question that comes up about the viability of that education,” she said. "Creativity, that’s the currency of the future. This is what we do here — we not only nurture creatives, but we turn their passion into a paycheck.”
