Welcome, new Moore College of Art & Design students! We’re excited to help you get started at the College with an action-packed first week for New Student Orientation. You can view the full schedule and reserve your spot for our orientation events
Here are some highlights of what’s still to come:

Monday, August 23

YouTube and “Wooter Ice” with The Galleries at Moore | The Atrium, 3–4 pm

We’ll fire up the projector as you share the funniest, weirdest, most unbelievable YouTube videos we have never seen, all while enjoying Philadelphia’s favorite frozen dessert: water ice (pronounced “wooter ice,” if you want to do it like the locals do).

Philly 101 Class | Great Hall, 4–5 pm

Come learn about all things Philly—beyond the wooter ice!

City as a Campus: University City | Meet in the Front Lobby, 6 pm

Head over to University City and check out the coffee shops, book and comic stores, as well as Urban Outfitters and other shops.

Tuesday, August 24

LGBTQ+ Fundamentals | Fox Commons, 10 am – 12 pm

Join us for a workshop and discussion on LGBTQ+ competency, including language, terminology, and core best practices.

Meet the Artist: Huewayne Watson | 4:30–5:30 pm

Meet Huewayne Watson, 2018 MFA graduate of Moore College of Art and Design, and the guest curator of the African American Museum of Philadelphia’s exhibition on Anna Russell Jones. Stop by Stahl Hall to receive free tickets to view the exhibit in-person!

City as a Campus: South Street | Meet in the Front Lobby, 6 pm

Take SEPTA to Philadelphia’s most eclectic streets. Grab a cheesesteak or shop around!

Wednesday, August 25

Trick or Treat with Moore Offices | Meet in the Front Lobby, 9:30–10:30 am

Get to know your way around Moore’s Campus! Student Leaders will take you on a tour of the campus offices—candy and Moore swag available at each stop.

Art Gives Back | Dining Hall, 10:30 am – 12 pm

Come use your creativity to make an impact. We’ll be decorating stuffed animals for you to give to your fellow Moore students and also making greeting cards for senior citizens who may not have anybody to send them cards on the holidays. We’ll have some basic art supplies here, but you’re welcome to bring your own as well.

City as a Campus: Spruce Street Harbor Park | Meet in the Front Lobby, 6 pm

Come play in this temporary addition to the waterfront. There are fountains and mist areas, as well as a boardwalk, hammocks, games and an urban beach!

Thursday, August 26

Ready…set…GO! It’s the first day of classes! But don’t forget to join us at the following events:

Convocation | Great Hall, 11 am

The College community gathers to welcome all new students!

All-College Picnic | 1900 Block of Race Street, 12 pm

Free for ALL students.

We can’t wait to celebrate your first week with you! If you have any questions about Fall 2021 New Student Orientation, please email emily Lubow Klobucher at eklobucher@moore.edu.
