In an effort to keep the Moore community safe and healthy, the College is asking students, faculty and staff to download the COVID Alert PA app.

The contact tracing app is the official mobile app by the Pennsylvania Department of Health that uses the Exposure Notification System (ENS) provided by Apple and Google.

Here’s how it works: Whenever you spend significant time (15 minutes or more) within six feet of another person who has the app, your phone trades random numbers with that person’s phone, using Bluetooth to connect. If someone you’ve traded numbers with then tests positive for COVID-19, that person will log it in the app with a six-digit code provided by the Pennsylvania Health Department, and the app on your phone will alert you to a possible exposure. If that happens, students will be expected to visit Student Health Services to determine next steps, while staff and faculty should consult their respective primary care physicians.

It's available by going to the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and downloading the free COVID Alert PA app to your smartphone. After you download it, you can opt-in to receive alerts if you have had a potential exposure to someone who tested positive for COVID-19. COVID Alert PA protects your privacy and personal information. The app does not use GPS, location services, or any movement or geographical information. The app will never collect, transmit, or store your personal information and is completely anonymous.

Moore is aiming for 100 percent participation this year for flu shots and downloads of this app. Students who download the app and email Student Affairs at studentaffairs@moore.edu with a screenshot of the app on their phones will receive a free Moore enamel pin as our thanks for taking part in this community effort.

Flu shots are available Friday, October 23, from 11:30 am to 1 pm in the Great Hall. Email Diane Azuma RN at dazuma@moore.edu to sign up.
