PHILADELPHIA (October 3, 2024) — Moore College of Art & Design (“Moore”) announced that it will open a new exhibition, titled Price Lists and Placements, at its Galleries this fall. The exhibition, which provides a platform for Philadelphia-based creators to sell their work, will be on view from October 4 through December 7.
Price Lists & Placements puts an emphasis on art as a business, allowing local artists and designers to sell their work in a large-format, curated presentation that resembles an art fair. The exhibition will remain on view as The Galleries’ public programming focuses on artist-as-entrepreneur advocacy. Artists in the exhibition include Madeleine Conover, Corinna Cowles, Nick Lenker, Julia Policastro, Matthew Raghunauth, Zekey Thomas, Jon Weary, and Mitch Wiesen.
As The Galleries at Moore spotlights artists as they step into the role of independent businesspeople, it will also give back to young artists seeking personalized creative education. A portion of each Price Lists & Placements sale will benefit need-based opportunities for students looking to enroll in Moore's youth programs.
“Each artist in Price Lists & Placements was selected for their unique vision, honed through studio practices that encourage experimentation and curiosity. This exhibition highlights the authenticity of their craft while exploring art as an entrepreneurial pursuit,” said Gabrielle Lavin Suzenski, Chief Curator of The Galleries at Moore. “Moore and its Galleries strive to support artists, no matter their age, as they step into new roles and explore their talents.”
The Galleries at Moore will host its opening reception for all fall exhibitions on October 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. Price Lists & Placements will be presented in cooperation with the Artblog Art MKT, an art sale organized by Artblog and co-curated by Moore adjunct professor and artist Jacob Chris Hammes, Moore alumna Terri Saulin ‘92, and painter Tim McFarlane. Saulin’s interdisciplinary exhibition, titled Dear Believer, will also be on view in the Alumni Gallery until November 16.
