On Tuesday, October 8, Moore College of Art & Design celebrated the official opening of the Straw Garden Terrace on its campus.

The newly renovated outdoor space, located behind Moore’s Dining Hall, was made possible by a generous donation from Board of Managers member and College benefactor Keith Straw. It features all-season patio furniture, colorful decor, lush plant life, and a soothing water feature for students and campus visitors to enjoy.

The Straw Garden Terrace is a warm and inviting outdoor space for students and campus visitors to enjoy at Moore. Straw, Moore President Cathy Young, and College board members recently celebrated the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on the terrace.

Young said that although the terrace celebrated its official opening in October, students were already utilizing it during the Fall 2024 semester.

“With the increase of nearly 35% more students on campus this fall, we worked all summer to identify additional spaces for our community to gather across campus,” she said. “As you can see, the Straw Garden Terrace creates a secluded refuge for students to relax and gather on campus.”
