This year, the Locks Career Center welcomed two new staff members to the Moore community. Read on to get to know Keyia and Catherine, and join the Career Center March 22–25 for Career Week

Catherine Purcell is so pleased to have joined the Moore community where she serves as Assistant Director of the Locks Career Center. She is in her final semester of the Master’s in Higher Education Policy and Student Affairs program at West Chester University and holds a Bachelor of Music in Musical Theatre. Before the pandemic, Catherine was a working theatre artist and teaching artist, but decided to pursue her passion for educating full time. At the university level, she’s held positions at WCU, Penn State University and Brown University.

Within the Career Center, Catherine hopes to facilitate a welcoming and warm environment alongside Keyia, where students feel supported in their career-related endeavors. Additionally, she plans to curate a collection of resources and develop programming that enhances the professional development of the diverse student populations within the Moore community. Given her own background as a student artist, she is incredibly passionate about advocating for art and design students and their work.

Shakeyia N. Kersey is a dedicated career services professional. Mrs. Kersey earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a double minor in Psychology and Marketing, and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management and Organizational Leadership from Widener University.

She has held various leadership roles within the higher education, non-profit, accounting and engineering industries. Prior to Moore, she was the Philadelphia office leader for a multi-million dollar engineering firm, where she hired top talent, developed business relationships and acquired work for the Philadelphia office.

Mrs. Kersey is a Certified Myers Briggs Type Indicator interpreter through The Myers-Briggs ® Company, and belongs to several organizations including the Professional Association of Resume Writers and Career Coaches, the Association for Talent Development and the Learning and Development Professionals of Greater Philadelphia. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her son Isaiah and husband Brian.
