Graphic Design students in Moore's The Printed Word class enjoyed an end-of-semester Edible Book Party.

"This was sort of a challenge to get them to think outside the box and problem-solve in a most unusual way," said Tara O'Brien, Graphic Design instructor and book artist. "It has to be edible and it can be a literal interpretation, it can be a pun, it can be whatever they come up with." The Printed Word class is about the history of graphic design within books.

Entries included titles such as The Catcher in the RyeGoodnight Moon and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Library Director Kim Lesley served as judge and selected Christa Faas' chocolate confection representing Pet Sematary, which incorporated Twix candy bars, cookie crumbs and a hand-made chocolate tree.

"I liked the creative use of materials and the addition of animal crackers," Lesley said of her choice.

Runner up was Oxchzeanna Perez's entry If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.

The student favorite was Madison Phillips' entry featuring a scene from The Great Gatsby.
