Through the generosity of Steven Kimbrough, Moore has established the Roberta Fallon Endowed Scholarship for its BFA students. Kimbrough's gift commemorates Roberta Fallon's (1949-2025) enduring impact on the Philadelphia arts community through her work with Artblog and is a meaningful resource that will provide lasting support towards the stewardship of student curiosity and growth.

This announcement coincides with Moore's commitment to house and oversee the Artblog archives under the care of our Connelly Library. Launched in April 2003 by co-founders Roberta Fallon and Libby Rosof, theartblog.org filled a void in reduced media coverage of the arts, and its original content documents decades of exhibition coverage, art criticism and cultural dialogue highlighting emerging and underrepresented voices across Philadelphia’s broad visual and performing arts scene. Following the retirement of its co-founders, the online publication closed in June 2025 but its archives remain a historic and valuable resource for current and future generations of artists, designers, scholars and community members.

Below is an excerpt from Roberta's obituary that can be read in-full here at the Inquirer.com  or viewed as a .pdf here.

Roberta Fallon, 76, of Bala Cynwyd, cofounder, editor, and longtime executive director of theartblog.org, prolific freelance writer for The Inquirer, Daily News, and other publications, adjunct professor at St. Joseph’s University, artist, sculptor, mentor, and volunteer, died Friday, Dec. 5, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital of injuries she suffered after being hit by a car on Nov. 24. Ms. Fallon’s husband, Steven Kimbrough, said the crash remains under investigation by the police.

Described by family and friends as empathetic, energetic, and creative, Ms. Fallon and fellow artist Libby Rosof cofounded the online Artblog in 2003. For nearly 22 years, until the blog became inactive in June, Ms. Fallon posted commentary, stories, interviews, reviews, videos, podcasts, and other content that chronicled the eclectic art world in Philadelphia.

The site drew more than 4,500 subscribers and championed galleries and artists of all kinds, especially women, LGBTQ and student artists, and other underrepresented innovators. “I think we have touched base with every major arts organization in Philadelphia at one point or another, and many of the smaller ones,” Ms. Fallon told The Inquirer in May. “We became part of the arts economy.”

She studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and Temple University’s Tyler School of Art and Architecture, and later taught professional practice art classes at St. Joseph’s. Moore College of Art and Design, which will archive Artblog, awarded her an honorary doctorate.

Her husband said: “Everybody likes her. Everybody wants to be around her. She made a difference for a lot of people.”

Her daughter Stella said: “The world would be a better place if we all tried to be like my mom.”

The Roberta Fallon Endowed Scholarship is a fund that welcomes a culture of philanthropy.

Generosity, like an education at Moore, is the beginning of possibility and any contribution makes a lasting impression on our students long after their time here at the College. Your support ensures they have the resources they need to thrive—both in the classroom and beyond.
