A design by Gustavo Piqueira. It combines parts of animals, such as an owl face and snake body, with blocky, organic shapes to create a new creature-like object.

Perhaps there is a silver lining in these unforgiving times. Virtual working, learning, and living has many challenges but it has also provided unforeseen opportunities. Our boundaries have expanded—we can take advantage of professional opportunities around the country, learn from experts around the world, and participate in events with global audiences without leaving our homes.

Join us for a virtual lunch time lecture with Brazilian designer Gustavo Piqueira who will share his insight on the intersection of visual narratives, culture and language.

At the head of Casa Rex, Gustavo Piqueira has received over 500 international graphic design awards. His wide field of work is a reflection of the way he views design: as a dialogue. Therefore, the more dialogue there is, the richer the professional experience becomes. As a result of this approach, we witness not only his transition across all areas of graphic design, but also his ability to remove the typical boundaries and confines usually inherent within the profession, expanding his creativity with illustrations; objects; typography; and culminating in his 40 published books, all signified by a blend of design, history, art and literature.
