In 1973, Dianne Vanderlip curated an exhibition titled Artists Books at Moore College of Art and Design, marking the first use of this pivotal phrase in the contemporary context. In this virtual event, Tony White will preface the conversation with a short presentation contextualizing the exhibition. Katie Garth will moderate an audience Q&A.

Dianne Vanderlip was the first gallery director at Moore College of Art before becoming the first Curator of Contemporary Art at the Denver Art Museum, a position she held for 30 years. Now their Curator Emerita of Modern and Contemporary Art, she is an art advisor in Los Angeles.
Tony White (@documenting_artistsbooks) is the Library Director at Purchase College, State University of New York. He will be publishing an article about the artists books exhibition this fall.
