Join us for an Evening of animation and discussion at Moore College of Art & Design for our 11th annual Game Changers event were we will be spotlighting three Asian American Artists and Animators; Amy Lee Ketchum, Hsiang Chin Moe and Mariel Kinuko Cartwright who will share their experiences and insights as working artists in animation and games.

Meet our guests:

Amy Lee Ketchum

Amy Lee Ketchum is a Chinese American artist and animator based in Philadelphia. She creates poetic narratives and abstract worlds in her animations which draw from personal and collective memory, metaphysical narratives, and dance. She holds a BA in Art and Architecture from UC Berkeley and a Masters of Fine Art in Animation from the University of Southern California. Her directorial work has been shown on broadcast television, various international film festivals, and on the Centre Pompidou web channel. 

Amy teaches at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts where she is the Chair of Animation. She is also a member of the artist collective Tiger Strikes Asteroid and a founding member of a Philadelphia experimental animation group, the Animation Ensemble. Her current projects include a stop-animation about lanternflies and chinoiserie.

Hsiang Chin Moe

Hsiang Chin Moe brings a wealth of experience as an artist, educator, and industry professional. As the inaugural BFA Animation Chair at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, she has shaped the education and careers of countless animators and animation artists. With a background in production, technology, and management, she understands the intricacies of the animation industry and how to navigate its challenges.

Hsiang acted as associate director of the New York Digital Salon, where she fostered international dialogue and partnerships to celebrate digital animation, video, games, and interactive installations. Currently, she serves as the Chair for Education on the board of WIA (Women in Animation) for more than 11,000 members worldwide. She works closely with leading artists, filmmakers, and recruiters to create an equal and supportive platform for underrepresented gender identities and their allies across the animation industry.

Mariel Kinuko Cartwright

Mariel Kinuko Cartwright is the Creative Director at the indie studio Future Club. She specializes in 2D art and animation, with work on titles like Skullgirls, Indivisible, Penny’s Big Breakaway, Demonschool, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game, and more.
