Paid Internships

The paid internship experience at Moore is critical to our career-focused education. Internships offer hands-on experiences in professional settings, allowing our students to develop and hone real world skills that are necessary to succeed in their field of study. 

Moore is the only art and design school to provide $1,000 paid internships for every student in every major. Students in all majors except Art Education* are required to complete a 4.5 credit/240 hour internship, typically scheduled during the summer between the junior and senior year.

Internships are an important moment to lay the foundation for a professional network as you prepare for a lifelong career in art and design. Moore's ever-growing and broad-reaching network of alumni and employers are an asset to our current students, they help us place you in challenging and exciting internships, many of which can lead to careers after graduation.

MOORE INTERNSHIP STORIES

We are the only art and design college in the entire country to offer a paid $1,000 internship to every student in every major. This matters a lot—because internships provide real-world experience and network connections that many college students don't receive until after they graduate. Moore's Locks Career Center will assist you in identifying and securing internships that align with your skills, ambitions, and professional + personal goals.

Internship placements must be pre-approved by the department chair and faculty supervisor and a signed contract must be filed with the Locks Career Center before the internship starts. The staff works closely with the faculty teaching the required internship preparation courses, providing a systematic approach for your search for an internship host site. The staff will provide help with your resume development, practice with business correspondence and mock interviews, as well as support before, during and after the interview process.

In addition to completing the equivalent of a six-week full-time internship, you are also required to make a formal internship presentation to your department faculty and submit an internship journal, which includes a self-reflective essay. The number of hours you’ll spend in completing the summer internship, the follow-up presentation and other grading requirements slightly exceeds the minimum requirement of three hours of effort per credit.

* Art Education majors must complete a 12-week supervised student teaching assignment that will be arranged through Art Education and the Liberal Arts Department.
