INTERIOR DESIGN PROGRAM MISSION, PHILOSOPHY & GOALS

Moore’s Interior Design major prepares women, nonbinary and gender-nonconforming students to be creative and responsible designers. The curriculum stresses the broad intellectual development needed for leadership in the professions and the fundamental skills to enter the profession.

Faculty share a commitment to a philosophy of an integrated curriculum that demands that students be simultaneously and sequentially involved with diverse disciplines and concepts, faculty and other students. The program is rooted in design and is supported by a Foundation program and a broad spectrum of Creative & Critical Studies courses. The Interior Design program curriculum is structured to enable the program to teach the fundamentals of interior design and to reflect changes in the profession.

COUNCIL FOR INTERIOR DESIGN ACCREDITATION

The Interior Design program leading to the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), 206 Grandville Avenue Suite 350, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
The CIDA-accredited program prepares students for entry-level interior design practice, for advanced study and to apply for membership in professional interior design organizations.
