Director of Art Education, Associate Professor, Faculty Forum President
Lauren Stichter is the director of Art Education and assistant professor at Moore College of Art & Design. Prior to her director role at Moore, she was the lead art teacher at Pennsylvania School for the Deaf for 15 years. In the spring of 2019, Stichter became the Special Needs in Art Education interest group president for the National Art Education Association. She is also the current chair of administration and supervision on the board of the Pennsylvania Art Education Association.
Stichter is passionate about accessibility in the arts and presents regularly at national and international conferences, district-wide professional development days, museum and community arts events and webinars. Most recently, she has done work with the Disability Studies, Arts & Education group; the Kennedy Center VSA program; the National Art Education Association; the Council for Exceptional Children; the National Gallery; the Barnes Foundation; KidSmart; the Art Educators of New Jersey; and the Georgia Art Education Association, as well as a wide range of college settings and school districts across the country. Additionally, she has hosted many large-scale events at Moore including two annual symposia with a focus on the intersections of art & special education; the second International Conference on Disability Studies, Arts and Education (Fall 2019); and the Pennsylvania Art Education Association conference (Fall 2016 and Fall 2021).
