Artist Statement
My work investigates how the female gaze can be expressed in various ways through film. This can be through the narrative, the film lens, visual and stylistic choices, and commentary.
Something that is important to address is the question: What is the female gaze? Based upon my research, I've decided to frankenstein my own definition. The female gaze—as it relates to film—is a form of filmmaking that frames the perspectives and experiences of women through directing, screenwriting and commentary, as well as visual and stylistic choices.
