Artist Statement

Throughout my years as a Moore student, I set my focus on fashion photography and experimental short film. My love of science fiction and horror films inspires me to bring the bizarre into the foreground in all of my projects. My senior thesis, Date Night, is a mix of cinematic photography and short film, which was inspired by my love of storytelling and aspirations to study filmmaking in the future.

To honor my original love of storytelling, this semester I tackled my version of cinematic photography that focuses on the uneasy. Artists like Gregory Crewdson and Patrick McPheron inspire me to strengthen my narrative skills through single images. Though Coronavirus has stopped me from pursuing more intricate projects that require outsourced materials and models, I am determined to make the most of my situation and create a narrative project based on my surroundings. I want to create imagery that looks as though it was pulled out of a film about heartache and obsession and is unlike my previous photographic work.
