Artist Statement
Kay Fox is a Philly-based queer illustrator and tattoo designer. Their work explores the intersection between LGBT+ culture and horror media resulting from censorship laws such as the Hayes Code. They do so through their combinations of line and shape as edge, vibrational color palettes, experimental hand-lettering, and half-tone textures that are inspired by pop art, psychedelia, and tattoo design. With this work, Fox aims to not only challenge the bounds of tattoo design, but also create images that align with queer identity.
