Artist Statement

We used to be told that in order to have ADHD you would have been the boy who couldn’t sit still in class or who is yelling over others. But today we are learning that ADHD presents itself in many different ways depending on who has it. Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder or ADHD is becoming a reality for more and more adult women due to the fact that masking behaviors in their childhoods prevented an earlier diagnosis. Through this project I hope to convey what it feels like and looks like living with ADHD. I use various types of mediums to express how complex and diverse this disorder is. The works created call on the senses of sight and sound to create a sensory experience which is similar to those who are struggling with ADHD.
