Artist Statement
The exploration of image making is the imagination of original ideas. It is the power of self-determination—something we all desire but at times it can be challenging to control. Limitations often force a person to push boundaries to develop new solutions and go beyond the obvious. At its best, creative freedom forces us to conceive the unimaginable, but harnesses the creativity to form cohesion. Image making is something that takes practice and is very experimental, which is part of what makes it so enjoyable. Starting is always hard, but once you get into the process, it’s all worth it in the end. You learn a lot through the making process, whether it’s a new way to manipulate something or learning how to etch an image into glass. Experimentation is the key, and you want to exhaust all options so you know you did everything you could to push your art to its best.
