Artist Statement
My film isn't "art as therapy," it's rather a conversation with myself. This project investigates feeling like I have to take care of everyone in my life. Each scene is a stressful representation of feeling like I have to be there for others to rely on before I'm there for myself. I ask myself, "Why do I take on other people's baggage? Why do I always feel like I have to help every person I meet? Is this my personality or is it learned behavior? Is this because I'm an eldest daughter?"
