Artist Statement
This work is a series of illustrations depicting locations and story moments from the "Mythweaver" universe, a fantasy world I've been developing over the last few years. We follow two characters on their journey through multiple fantasy and science-fiction inspired environments, meeting other beings and creatures along the way. My goal with this thesis was to create compelling images that draw the viewer in and make them curious about the story of the "Mythweaver" world and the characters who traverse these mysterious landscapes.
I am particularly interested in concept art and visual development work, so I created a visually unique, cohesive aesthetic for my illustrations. I explored and expanded this aesthetic through digital work and through traditional oil paintings, as this medium has a strong tie to the fantasy illustration industry. I am proud and honored that my oil paintings earned me the prestigious Fred & Naomi Hazell Memorial Art Award for Illustration.
