Artist Statement
Enter if you dare...
My name is Jess Buccigrossi, and I'm an illustrator/storyteller based in New Jersey. Over the years at Moore, I have really experimented with my style and discovered new interests within the illustration world. I predominantly create graphic novels but I am no stranger to tattoo designing, character designing, and a little bit of creative writing.
As someone who is greatly drawn to the dark and macabre, I take heavy inspiration from Edgar Allan Poe. My interests that influence my art are the Victorian era, horror, romance, gothic literature/art, true crime and low fantasy. My style is mostly digital and black and gray, but working with color is no issue at all.
The Veiled Reflection is the backstory of a character of mine within a bigger collaborative graphic novel project. If you're interested, stay tuned for that, as well as the next few chapters of The Veiled Reflection, its sequel story, and other small projects by me! I hope you all enjoy my thesis!
