Artist Statement
I create artwork with the intention of conversing with the world around me. I have centered my senior thesis specifically around celebrating monotony and finding joy in every small thing I possibly can. I've found that creating art is an ideal way to do this—by dedicating time and materials to an image of something completely unremarkable, you have made it remarkable; made it the slightest bit easier for others to understand why you pull happiness from things that seem entirely regular. These everyday occurrences tie us together as humans. Hundreds of people with hundreds of different jobs, hobbies and favorite colors all sip their coffee in the morning. Something as simple as an individual routine can feel as intimate as it does isolated. Why not slow down and fixate on the small things worth celebrating?
