Artist Statement
This piece deals with my own journey through my unhealthy mental health habits. I tend to mask and distract myself from thinking about past traumatic experiences by distracting myself with comforting things like pop culture and strolling through grocery stores. Both activities take me away from reality and act as a coping mechanism. In this piece I take a harsh look back on my traumatic experiences and turn comforting pastimes into re-enactments of my thoughts and feelings through four damaging experiences I've had in my life.
