Artist Statement
I am a painter, a sculptor, and builder. In my practice, I use sculpture to aid and push the boundaries of painting, and therefore see them as separate entities. I consider them always in conversation with each other.
This body of work captures fragmented memories from my early childhood, exploring the inherent distortion and incoherence of the subconscious. Memories exist in the surreal, and are altered as time passes, but most of my memories have been captured in photographs. This leads me to question if I have any true memories left, or if they have been constructed by images presented to me.
