"I completed my student teaching at Martin Luther School (MLS), an approved private school for students who need emotional support, under art educator and artist, Margo Wunder. Through this experience I learned the importance of positive feedback and celebrating student success, high expectations for all students, and routine paired with consistency from teachers.

My students remained resourceful and creative during virtual learning. It was important to me to direct decision making back to the students, encourage risk taking, and assess without judgment.

I aimed to be culturally responsive and utilize Universal Design for Learning. Students were able to make art using any materials they had access to. In any given lesson, students would be working on a whiteboard, in a sketchbook, on notebook paper and found materials, or online using Google Slides or Google Jamboard. I truly enjoyed my time at MLS and am incredibly proud of the artwork my students created."
