Introduced by Amos Poe.

(Dir. Amos Poe and Ivan Král, US, 1976, 16mm, 55 min., b&w)

The crucial document of New York’s punk underground in the 1970s, The Blank Generation captures icons of the underground including Blondie, Talking Heads, Television and Patti Smith Group on their home turf of CBGB and Max’s Kansas City.  Shot in black & white 16mm with non-sync sound, Poe and Král’s film mimics the cut-and-paste, collage aesthetic of punk rock.  The Blank Generation is a true cult classic.
