Thursday, September 21st 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
THIS EVENT IS FOR MOORE STUDENTS ONLY!!! There same workshop will be offered to the public on Saturday, September 23 at 11AM.
The Theatre of the Oppressed (TO) is a network of people that utilize theatre and popular education to dismantle systems of oppression. First developed by Brazilian educator and theatre practitioner Augusto Boal during the 1960s, TO has evolved to promote empathy and social consciousness through the use of participation-based games and theatrical techniques with discussion and direct action. The goal of TO is to merge images into sounds, words, ideas and actions that reveal the reality we know and then rehearse the world we want to create.
For Bodyworks, Philadelphia Theatre of the Oppressed will present "Occupy the Gallery," a workshop that bridges the disciplines of visual and performance art through politics and improvisation.
This event is part of the Bodyworks exhibition and is FREE and open to the public and will take place in The Levy Gallery for the Arts in Philadelphia.
