The Bucks County Illustrators Society will showcase the wide range of illustration styles among its members with an exhibit throughout October at the Bucks County Visitors Center. The Visitors Center is located at 3207 Street Road in Bensalem, and is open seven days a week from 9 am to 5 pm. The Bucks County Illustrators Society was formed in 2009 and promotes the art and business of illustration and gives local illustrators the opportunity to connect with other professionals in the industry.
The public is invited to a free reception and book signing to meet many of the illustrators in the show on Sunday October 15 from 1 pm to 3 pm, in the gallery at the Visitors Bureau. Light refreshments will be served.
Included in the exhibit is artwork by James Bennett, Monika Hinterwaldner, Deb Hoeffner and Pat Achilles of Doylestown; Ponder Goembel of Riegelsville, Joe Kulka of Quakertown, Glenn Zimmer and Dan Fione of North Wales, Piya Wannachaiwong and Chistina Wannachaiwong of Langhorne, Rich Harrington of Newtown, Pam Hamilton of Chalfont, Marie Thresher of Philadelphia, Kim Kurki of Penns Park, Mark Schaeffer of Ambler and Ryan Onorato of Runnymede, N.J. The subjects of the artwork range from dragons and animals to celebrities, children’s book art to historical illustrations, graphic novels to decorative design. The styles in the exhibit vary from traditional media such as oil and watercolor to digital illustration, to combinations of both.
Many of the artists have books, cards, calendars and prints of their illustrations for sale in the Gift Shop at the Visitors Bureau through December. The book Fantasy Tales, a showcase publication of BCIS artists featuring illustrations of stories of fantasy, will also be available in the gift shop.
