Art at Lunch: Naomieh Jovin

Art at Lunch: Naomieh Jovin
Thursday, September 19th 11:30 am – 12:30 pm
The Galleries at Moore, 1916 Race Street, Philadelphia

Join The Galleries for a discussion with photographer and digital artist Naomieh Jovin '17, whose recent portraiture project with the students at the U School High School is on view on The Galleries’ Philadelphia Wall until September 21. Jovin will be interviewed by Deanna Emmons '20, a senior Curatorial Studies major at Moore.

Jovin’s work has been influenced by the absence of her late mother as well as her experience growing up Haitian in America. In her work she utilizes found images of her mother and incorporates the nude female body to try and recreate similar moments. Through this process she makes connections to her mother’s personal history alongside hers, touching upon topics of sexual violence and racial bias.

Jovin graduated from Moore College of Art & Design in 2017 with a major in Photography and Digital Arts. Since then, she has worked as a freelance photographer with a broad range of creative abilities. Her work has been shown in numerous group exhibitions, including Field Day at MoMA PS1 and Mother’s Day at Little Berlin.

Art at Lunch events are free and open to the public.
