Join Moore College of Art & Design for the Visionary Woman Awards, the annual scholarship fundraising gala honoring outstanding women leaders in art and design.
The 2015 Visionary Woman Awards will be presented to Alexa Hampton and Pat Steir. Proceeds benefit Moore undergraduate women through scholarships and leadership training. Learn more about the impact of the Awards and past recipients.
Alexa Hampton, Interior Designer
Renowned for her extensive knowledge of classic and eclectic European design, New York interior designer, Alexa Hampton continues to sustain and grow her interior design firm, Mark Hampton LLC and her home furnishings product lines through Alexa Hampton Inc. She lectures internationally, has authored two books and was the first and only regularly appearing female cast member for This Old House. Hampton was the interior designer for the renovations to Trowbridge House, the official guest house of past U.S. presidents. The recipient of many accolades, Hampton has continually been designated a top designer by Architectural Digest, House Beautiful and New York Magazine, and in 2005 she was honored with the “American Spirit Award” by the American Folk Art Museum and the 2013 Design Icon Award at World Market Center. She is a graduate of Brown University.
Pat Steir, Painter and Printmaker
Pat Steir is recognized internationally for her wall drawings and signature style of abstract dripped, splashed and poured “waterfall” paintings. She was a founding board member of the landmark feminist journal, Heresies, and has had over 300 one-person shows in galleries and museums in the U.S., Europe, and Japan. She received a Guggenheim Fellowship, as well as grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. Steir’s work has been featured at many prominent venues including the Venice Biennale, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Sao Paulo Biennial and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Her work is represented in numerous public collections including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The National Gallery of Art and The Tate Gallery. Steir has a BFA from the Pratt Institute and is represented by the Locks Gallery.
