All first-year students at Moore must take a course known as Visual Thinking.
Moore began the program with first-year students in the fall of the 2015-2016 school year. Classes are held on Fridays from 8:30 am to 3:20 pm. The course has three components: the studio experience; seminar, or workshops; and developing community among the students. Students from all majors work alongside one another, creating different approaches to the same theme in the studio part of the course.
Angela Palma '20, an Illustration major, said the course helped her develop research and time-management skills, and she also enjoyed seeing students try new techniques.
“I see fashion majors doing collages and animation majors doing sculptures, which is very interesting,” she said.
Angela's project included making a mask of liquid latex and paint, then photographing it as she peeled it off. The photos above show Angela's approach to the theme of 'Self.'
