In Remembrance


Stacy Wilson Campbell ’99 passed away on May 24, 2017. She was a Fashion Design alumna. She maintained close relationships with former classmates and faculty. She worked as a successful designer, as well as was a mentor and inspiration to many.

Harriet C. Roberts Former Chair of the Interior Design Department and Faculty Member Emeritus, Harriet Cooke Roberts, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the age of 96. Born in Philadelphia on June 6, 1920, Harriet was a long time and beloved professor at Moore. She helped guide students at the time when technology was beginning to profoundly affect the design industry. She is survived by her sons Rob, Blair and Bill and by her grandchildren, Sam, David, Ben, Eli and Nell.

Elsa Hofheinz Wurtz '33 passed away in 2012. She painted in watercolor and exhibited at numerous venues, including the Rittenhouse Square Clothesline Exhibit at the Woodmere Gallery. She also created silkscreen art, prints and works in stained glass.

Chiarina Mascieri Tredanari '40 passed away on January 21, 2015. An Illustration major, she was the daughter of Italian immagrant parents, grew up in South Philadelphia, and received a full scholarship to attend Moore.  She was founding member of the 103rd st. Block Associations, art collaborative "Ten Uptown", and  the Sculptors Alliance.

Dorothy Rosenberger Swalm '43 passed away on March 18, 2015. She was an Interior Design major.

Marjorie Haines Gill '48 passed away. She was a Fashion Design alumna.

Eleanor Jefferson Hoekstra '56 passed away on March 24, 2015. She was a Fine Arts major.

Phyllis Zitarelli Hewitt '69 of Haddonfield, NJ died on Wednesday, April 29.   An accomplished watercolorist, she is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. James L. Hewitt; children, Joseph (Cathy) Hewitt and Elizabeth (Kayhan) Mirza; and four grandchildren.

Natalie Morrison Freeman '70, known as Nancy, died on the morning of April 15.  Nancy is survived by her devoted husband, C. William Burlin; and by her children, Gail F. Burke, Guru Sangat Singh Khalsa, George M. Freeman, and their spouses; as well as eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Ellen Marsden Smedley '70 died on Thursday, April 2 of cancer.  Mrs. Smedley, 66, of Haddonfield, had who retired in 2011 after 42 years as a Philadelphia public school art teacher.

Jean Lattemann Seibert '72 passed away in June 2014. She was a Fashion Illustration major.

Nancy Everson Stone '75 passed away on May 28, 2015. She was an Art Education major.

Trudy Cohen '76 passed away on July 8th. Trudy was a Photography alumna, a longtime Center City Philadelphia resident and had a successful photography career.
