ALUMNI NOTES 1980S
Patricia Steiner Achilles '81 illustrated the children's book Let's Visit New Hope for the New Hope Historical Society, and she exhibited four of the book's illustrations at the Philadelphia Sketch Club's show Phillustration 7. Her piece Ghost Tour won First Place in Book Illustration at the exhibit. Pat continues to promote the art and business of illustration via the group she co-founded, the Bucks County Illustrators Society.
Janet Biggs '81 recently completed a multi-screen video installation presenting the visual parallels for the disorientation of Alzheimer's disease. The installation was featured in Art in America Magazine and appeared in the October 2015 issue.
Valeria Jones Marcus '81 served as the Creative Lead Artist for AC Chalk in October. She was asked to kick it off with a drawing on Columbus Day and was interviewed by SNJ News TV station. Valeria also organized the workshop, Shining the Light on Incest & Molestation on our Children, presented by Dr. Martin A. Finkel, Carnegie Center at Stockton University, Atlantic City, NJ.
Kathleen Shaver Amrom '83 exhibited her painting collection, Serial, at The Gallery at The University City Arts League, a non-profit arts center committed to the West Philadelphia neighborhood.
Eleanor Schimmel '84 was featured at Lawrence Gallery exhibition, Sequences and Series: Eleanor Schimmel and Lisa Sylvester.
Andersen Thorp '84 has been selected by the art education magazine, Creative Outlook, as its 2015 Art Teacher of the Year.
Kathy Butterly '86 had a solo exhibition, The Weight of Color, at the Shoshanawayne Gallery in Santa Monica, CA.
Emily Bittenbender '89 was appointed to new Mayor Kenney's transition team on the public safety subcommittee.
Renee Reeser Zelnick '89 wrote the Amazon ebook, The Art School Grad's Guide to the Real World.
