The MFA in Studio Art program is a full-time on-campus curriculum designed to be completed in four semesters and must be completed within eight semesters. Candidates are required to successfully complete courses totaling 60 credit hours, and must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Our unique MFA sets up a dialogue between studio and social practices, acknowledges that there are many art worlds to be a part of, and introduces students to a wide range of contexts for their work including institutions and spaces dedicated to art as well as streets and movements for social justice. It is in these diverse settings that art and the education of artists are confronted with questions of research and relevance: asking what kinds of materials, forms concerns and strategies make sense for different contexts and communities?
