Knight Internship Fellowship Recipient 2009

Photography is about taking pictures, but it’s also about seeing and analyzing the world around you. I spent the summer analyzing and cataloging maps from around the world. It allowed me to experience how life after college would be by seeing how other artists combined their career and artwork.

My internship helped me think about photography in broader terms. There is the freelance photography route, but also careers in administration, as an archivist, curator, and historical researcher. Now that my mind is open to all the opportunities and paths that involve photography, I’m not just thinking with a linear mindset, but like a web branching toward many prospects and goals.
