More About Foundation

In order to begin your journey you need a road map.  The purpose of Foundation is to help you master technical skills so that you are prepared for your area of study.  This program provides a strong basis in design principles that is rooted in drawing, and lays the foundation so you are trained for a career in art and design.  Our expert faculty will work with you to develop your point of view while you explore various materials and methods – from the traditional to evolving technologies

  • The First-Year Foundation program prepares students for all majors at Moore. The program focuses on the integration of traditional processes and evolving technological tools, and the development of perceptual, technical and conceptual skills.
  • The program lays the foundation and equips students for a contemporary career in art & design.
  • Students select a major-level class in the second semester of the Foundation year, to get an early start in their future major. Students can also select a course to use as an elective in order to pursue their creative interests.
  • Students thoroughly investigate composition, mark-making and problem-solving using multiple strategies and media. The program provides a strong basis in design principles, and is solidly rooted in drawing.
