5 INTO 1: Transformations Exhibit at Moore

Philadelphia, PA  For the 18th year, Philadelphia Sculptors is presenting 5 into 1, its annual exhibition showcasing the works of recent graduates from BA, BFA and MFA programs at five Philadelphia art and design schools: Moore College of Art & Design, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Tyler School of Art at Temple University, The University of the Arts, and University of Pennsylvania. The exhibition will be on display in The Galleries at Moore College of Art & Design, 20Th Street and the Parkway, from Thursday, May 25 – Saturday, June 24, 2017.  An opening reception is scheduled for Friday, June 2, from 6 – 8 pm and will feature a special presentation by Canadian curator John Grande.  Both events are FREE and open to the public.

This year’s show was curated by Gabrielle Suzenski, Rochelle F. Levy Director, The Galleries at Moore. 5 into 1 gives recent graduates an opportunity to exhibit their art in a professional gallery. The exhibition presents works by eighteen artists in a variety of mediums to engage with the concept of “transformation.” The selected artists are:

The public is invited to attend the free special presentation by John Grande, “Unframing the Landscape,” a look at contemporary international environmental art and artists that will include Jason deCaires Taylor’s world-famous underwater art museum. The presentation begins at 6 pm on Friday, June 2, 2017, followed by the reception from 7 – 8 pm.

Moore College of Art & Design is located at 20Th Street and the Parkway in Philadelphia. The exhibition will be open to the public from Thursday, May 25 – June 24, 2017.  Gallery hours during the exhibition are Monday – Saturday at 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. The Galleries are closed on Sundays and during all academic and regular holidays.

ABOUT PHILADELPHIA SCULPTORS

Philadelphia Sculptors is the only professional organization of sculptors in the Philadelphia region.  Incorporated in 1997, its mission is to promote contemporary sculpture and serve as an advocate for sculptors by expanding public awareness of the role and value of sculpture within our culture. Since its inception, it has organized numerous indoor and outdoor juried and non-juried group exhibitions at both traditional and non-traditional venues and has sponsored programs, conferences, workshops and performances.  Membership is open to all.
