Philadelphia, PA – Calling all fashionistas and style-lovers! Moore College of Art & Design presents F/W Showcase 2019 on Friday, December 6, 2019, 7–9 pm at Fashion District Philadelphia, 901 Market Street, Philadelphia. The 2019 F/W Showcase will feature exclusive capsule collections from second- and third-year Moore students. Admission is free, but seating is limited and registration is required at moore.edu/2019FWShowcase. Seating begins at 7 pm, show time is 7:30 pm.

Audience members will be surrounded by major fashion inspiration as models walk on the floor in the city’s newest shopping destination, Fashion District Philadelphia.

“In collaboration with Century 21 Stores, Fashion District Philadelphia and Philly Fashion Week, we introduce to all the fashionistas in the Philadelphia area our 2021 and 2022 Fashion Design class,” said Fashion Design Chair Nasheli Juliana Ortiz González. “It is a great opportunity for the industry to see the potential of our upcoming designers and it offers our students a platform to expose their work and mature their portfolio.”

With an eye on sustainability, sophomores are upcycling men’s cotton dress shirts for the show.

“The final project in sophomore-level Fundamentals of Sewing involves designing and sewing a garment or look by repurposing traditional blue and white dress shirts,” said Professor Richard Killeaney. “Each student may create any garment or head-to-toe look in a style that expresses their personal sensibilities with a focus on quality craft. Economic use of fabric and design that considers existing garment details like collars and button plackets is encouraged. The project limitation of cotton shirts in only blue or white encourages students to think creatively, resulting in a unified and exciting show.”

The juniors, working with faculty members Sara Keel and Daniel Velasco, have broad sources of inspiration for their collections. From the female body to sacred architecture, elevated street wear to bridal design, the concept explorations are as interesting as their execution.

F/W Showcase is sponsored by Century 21 Stores and Fashion District Philadelphia. Event partner is Philly Fashion Week.
