(Philadelphia, PA) On May 12, Moore fashion design seniors presented their collections at the Spring Fashion Show 2012 in a tent in Aviator Park.

The fashion show featured innovative collections and designs by seniors, junior and sophomore students of Moore’s acclaimed fashion design department. The theme of the senior eveningwear collection was Breaking Away. A double entendre, Breaking Away drew inspiration from the ocean and colors of the water, but also reflected the fact that this is the time for seniors to move on to the next phase of their careers.

Each senior over the course of the year designed a four- or five-piece collection. The collections ranged from menswear and bridal to a line of kickboxing/bodybuilding outfits and a line of theatrical costumes. One senior hand-painted all of the fabric she used for her collection. Another showcased a line of fantasy garments featuring LED lighting detail.

The panel of judges and critics for the fashion show included many successful Moore alumnae: Andrea Pinkowitz ’73, textile designer, Charming Shoppes, Inc; Christina Gorman ’92, designer, Meryl Diamond, Inc., NY; Ashley Scott ’09, associate designer at Cyn & Luca Swimwear; and Kim Stromberg ’09, menswear designer at Ralph Lauren.

We are grateful to our corporate sponsors - Charming Shoppes, Inc., Anthropologie and Macy's.
