Mellany Armstrong

Mellany is the associate director of communications for Moore College of Art & Design.

Mellany comes to Moore after a long career in radio news. She has worked as an anchor, reporter and editor at radio stations KYW and WWDB-FM in Philadelphia, and was an anchor and reporter for WBAL in Baltimore and WDEL in Wilmington, Delaware.

She's jumped out of an airplane at 14,000 feet and rappelled off of a 17-story building to give listeners a first-person account of what it was like. Mellany likes to tell stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things, and her weekly series at WDEL, 'Delaware Stories,' won many awards. She won a national award for a series on childhood obesity in Delaware, and in 2014, was named Distinguished Alumna in Communications by her alma mater, St. Francis University in Loretto, Pa.

Most recently, she worked as a writer in the community investment division of Comcast. She has also written for the Delaware Community Foundation.

Mellany is originally from western Pennsylvania. When she's not working, Mellany enjoys learning new tunes with her bagpipe band, and running races with her husband, Mike, and sons, Reed and Drew.
