Workshops for Youth with Special Needs
Fall: October 1 - December 10 Spring: February 11 - April 21
The Art Education Department at Moore College of Art & Design offers Saturday art classes for children with special needs ages six to seventeen. These art classes are part of the Young Artists Workshop (YAW) at Moore College. The art program offers students with various exceptionality opportunities to be creative and have fun while participating at all levels in making art, talking about art and learning about artists.
The curriculum is designed by the art teacher to accommodate the children's special needs. A variety of adaptive aids are provided to help the children be independent in making art. Through the use of exemplars, reproductions of works of art, power point presentations, recordings and materials such as clay, paints and crafts, two and three-dimensional projects are created that provide visual, auditory and tactile experiences.
