DICE CREW: Dice Night

DICE CREW: Dice Night
Thursday, June 19th 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

In conjunction with the exhibition Interchange, the Philadelphia DICE CREW and The Galleries at Moore are hosting a night of competition and camaraderie. Come with a friend or make some new ones as 200 black dice will be made available for anything from Yahtzee to Farkle, from Perquackey to Sic Bo. Laugh and barter the night away with tunes selected and dished out by the CREW themselves. And, for those just learning, a limited edition DICE CREW instruction zine will be available to teach you the ropes. LET IT ROLL.

For the past several years, a community of musicians, programmers, artists and friends have gotten together irregularly to play games and listen to noise music. Those in attendance, and the games they play, remain unfixed, but one of the standby activities remains dice games, especially Cee-lo. Games often involve placing bets of various amounts of money, chips, or packaged chocolate cookies from a Vietnamese market in Kensington. Not all of the games are as beloved by all, so regular arguments as to which game to play happen frequently. While other games devolve into rounds of taunting, empty threats, and complaints about the music, others transcend the physical activity of rolling dice in rotation and simply become the backdrop for real talk, discussion, collaboration and friendship.
