Student Government

Student Government is structured to advocate for the students, empower their voices, develop solutions for student concerns and work to improve the experience for every student at Moore.

Student Government members represent the student perspective on key college-wide committees. Members have the opportunity to attend leadership and issue-oriented conferences. All students are encouraged to apply for positions in Student Government. The selection process occurs in the spring.

Each member of Student Government is unique and we all have different personalities. We are made of majors, years, and interests but we are all here for you. Find out more about your student leaders....

abbie

Hey guys! I'm Abbie McGinnes and I am the secretary of Student Government for the 2012-2013 school year! I'm also a junior Interior Design Major here at Moore. I've been pretty involved in the school's Student Leader group since last year and am excited to get to work with the rest of Student Government to make even more positive changes here at Moore! As an adviser to the group I will be overseeing the Programming and Academic Committees. On the academic side, we will work to bring you more interaction between students and teachers, more professional critiques, and more! On programming side, we will be working to bring you fun activities such as the Masquerade ball, Halloween dance and even more! I believe that with all the great ideas, this will be a fabulous year! I hope everyone is excited as I am to begin! See you all soon!

ayashe
Name: Ayashe K. Jamison
Year: Junior
Major: Interior Design
Minors: Textiles and Business
From: Philadelphia
Committees: Sorority & Charity / Programming
Growing up in Philadelphia has always provided inspiration and opportunities for me. Graduating from Central High School in 2009 college was my next adventure which is now Moore. I have always been involved in various activities all pertaining to art and creativity but now my focus is event planning. When I graduate Moore I plan on furthering my education by obtaining my Masters and Cosmetology License.
I am on SG because I want to be something bigger than myself. Being a commuter I am usually unaware of what is going on inside of Moore and I would rather be in the know. Also providing a commuter's perspective on things is helpful to those commuter's voices who are not heard. I always try to lend a helping hand where I can and I feel that SG does this very well
becca
Hey, I’m Becca, on the Student Run Gallery Committee. I am class of 2013 and a Curatorial Studies and Fine Arts 2D double major.
I was born in Fresno California, but I’m a military brat, so I have moved often. (In order, I’ve lived in CA, England, WA, MA, VA, and most recently MD.) I live here in Philly now, and it is by far my fav city so far.
I am on Student Government because I like being involved as a Student Leader. As a CS major, I am also especially excited to see what we can do at Moore with the Student Run Gallery.

brianna

Hello there my name is Brianna Boulanger and I am a member of student government here at Moore. I joined student government for the 1st time this year because I wanted to be more involved with the school and get a chance to get to know more people as well. I am a Graphic Design Sophomore and am looking to minor in Business. I love art and everything about it! I am from Lancaster Pa home of the amish as some might say. I enjoy hanging out with friends and going to see plays and shopping. I love going to Moore and all the great opportunity's I get to experience here. I am excited for this next coming school year and can not wait to see what student government has in store! :)

courtney

Hello Ladies!! I'm Courtney La Prince and I'm currently a senior graphic design major. I am also the vice president of Student Government for the 2012-2013 school year. As Vice President of SG I also oversee a couple of the committees that currently exist on SG and that is PR and. I like long walks on the beach, throwing rocks at parked cars, and going fly fishing with Spongebob and Patrick. Sometimes we bring along Sandy but she is just weird because she thinks that air is the best thing since cooked rice and I happen to disagree cooked rice is the best thing since cooked rice. Just my personal feelings. But anyhow I love to crack jokes it's my favorite thing besides breathing. My favorite medium to use in graphic design is digital. I love doing web design, motion graphics, and interactive things. When I graduate from Moore in May I would like to move to California to work in the TV/Film industry in post production. We'll see how that goes but my real hope is to be a title sequence designer. If you don't know what it means well them that's ridiculous. I'm playing it's the person who designs the opening and ending credits to movies or TV shows. If you have any questions for me please feel free to email me anytime your heart desires.

dani

Hey! I’m Dani, a Senior 3D Fine Art major hailing from the beautifully tragic town of Collingdale, Pa. I’ve never been one to talk about myself, so I guess I’ll just add some fun facts. Fact 1: I never color match the clothes I’m wearing. Too scarred from childhood. Fact 2: I have a strong love for forests and have a violent urge to go get lost in nature. Fact 3: I’m petrified of spiders, and therefore have hesitations when entering forests. Last Fact: While holding true to being my silly, spontaneous, wacky self, I find that I rather enjoy being involved with the serious side of organizations, which is one of the many reasons I joined Student Government. I like being able to do something about the problems I, or someone I know, is having. As part of SG, I am on both the Academic and the PR (public relations) committees. Within these, I will be handling such things as the Calendar and dance programming, among other things. Please come to me if you have a suggestion for something! I’m a pretty personable guy :D

karla

Hi, my name is Karla Coriat. I am a Junior Graphic Design major with a minor in 2D Fine Arts. I was born in Iquitos, Peru but have lived in Sarasota, Florida my whole life. I have been a part of the leadership opportunities, here at Moore, since my first year in 2009. I served on Student Orientation Staff for two years, and I am currently in Student Government. This year I will be in the PR committee. I chose to participate in Student Government, because I enjoy being a part of something significant, and I feel that by being in SG I can help assist other students in getting their voice heard. SG plays a huge role in the connection between students, faculty, and the Moore community. It helps you recognize what truly goes on behind the scenes and creates an appreciation of the kind of institute we are all a part of.

lydia

My name is Lydia Knopp and I’m a Midwesterner from Kansas City, Kansas. This year, I am a sophomore planning to double major in Graphic Design and Curatorial Studies. As a member of Student Government, I’ll be serving on the Community/Programming  committee as well as the student run gallery.  I joined Student Government because I value the idea of being apart of something greater than myself.  To be able to contribute my ideas to change and improve our Moore community is an honor.  I’m excited to be involved and am ready to bring something new to the table!  I look forward to another great and productive year!

marybeth

Hey, I’m MaryBeth Foehrenbach I am a senior Illustration major, hailing from the small town of Oxford, Connecticut. This year I am on the Student Run Gallery and the Networking/Career Committees. I'm excited to help create a network between Moore and other Philadelphia art schools, and to put up some great shows of student work in the gallery. Student Government is a great way for me to stay involved in what's going on at Moore, gain leadership skills, and meet fantastic people. It's so fulfilling to know you helped create positive change in the college!

melissa

Hi, my name is Melissa Ojeda and I'm a sophomore Photography and Digital Arts major. I'm from sunny Miami, Florida and I moved here to Philadelphia to achieve my dreams of becoming a fashion photographer. Something I have always been passionate about is making a difference, therefore I joined Moore's Student Government PR and Programming committees because I believe that I can help expand our community, as well as bring the students together.

nikki

Hey guys! My name is Nichole Hamilton, but you can call me Nikki! I am a Sophomore here at Moore majoring in Illustration with a minor in Fashion. This will be my second year on Student Government. Before coming to Moore I attended Upper Moreland High School and Easter Center for Arts and Technology, both in Willow Grove PA, where I was also apart of their Student Government. Aside from SG I love to draw, sew, play video games, and so much more! I am also a HUGE horror buff! Once I graduate from Moore I want to use my major to get into Medical and Forensic Illustration.

sade

My name is Sade Wimberly and I am a junior PDA major. This is my 1 1/2 year with Student Government. I joined SG because as a student, I wanted to see more student impact in the school, as well as become apart of the student body voice so that ideas and concepts of a better "Moore" life could be in the working. So far I've learned some of the inter workings of how events for our school gets created. As well as how an ideas from the student body can be taken into action with the right steps. I really love being in SG because it exceeded my expectations I am apart of something bigger than myself

sammi

Hey, I’m Sammi, I am a junior Photography and Digital Arts major and your Student Government President. I will be overseeing Community/Programing and Student Run Gallery. I joined SG because I love having the power to make a difference in our school. My hometown is Dingmans Ferry PA which is a whole lot of woods. I love being outdoors, swimming and hiking. I hope one day I will be an underwater photographer, traveling the world and sky diving on the reg. If you would like to know more about student government and what we do send me an email :)

sam
My name is Samantha Connors. I'm a junior fashion design major with minors in fabric & knit construction and business. I want to be a knitwear designer once I graduate and hopefully open my own boutique one day. I'm a part of Student Run Gallery as well as the Networking committee. I wanted to join student government so I could understand more about what goes on behind the scenes at Moore as well as to still be able to meet new people once I moved off campus last year.
Some stuff about me: I grew up in da poconos so I used to hang out with a bunch of deer, but now I live in Philadelphia. I have a sewer turtle named Enrique and he is the closest thing to a dog I will ever have while I am in college. I spend most of my days when I'm not in class or at work either sleeping or grocery shopping.
wydelah

Hello lovely ladies!!! I'm Wydelah Campbell, Philadelphia native and a Junior Graphic Design major. I love to laugh, even at myself and I enjoy spending time with my friends. I am an active member on Student Government and also a member of African American Society Association. I joined Student Government because I wanted to enjoy my college experience and get involved. I also wanted my voice heard, rather than complaining I wanted to do something about it.
