Moore prepared me well for a life in fashion design. My courses were very demanding and they taught me how to design confidently for a deadline. I chose to major in fashion because it is both a 2D and 3D form of art and design. I wanted to refine my drawing skills as well as learn how to construct clothing from scratch.
Location was a key factor in my decision to apply to Moore. I felt constantly surrounded by inspiring people and places. It was a lot of fun to explore Philadelphia and fabric shopping in NYC was only a quick bus ride away!
I now work at LL Bean in the women’s department. I’m designing accessories for fall 2010, including belts, scarves, hats and mittens. I’m learning a lot and really love what I’m doing. My manager [Lynette Kirk] is a Moore alumnae. I met her my junior year when she came back to Moore to critique our menswear project. I reached out to her senior year when I was looking for jobs, and the rest is history.
