It was very empowering to attend an all-women’s college. It gave me confidence in my work and taught me how to be a professional artist. I am very grateful for my experience at Moore.

Throughout my career, I’ve authored many picture books for children, including Sweet Tooth, Bedhead and the Bad Boy Series. You could say I have a rather distinctive voice, which has earned me many awards and honors since my picture book debut with Piggie Pie! in 1997.
Most recently, I worked on a book called Lousy Rotten Stinkin’ Grapes, my third collaboration with award-winning illustrator Barry Moser. The book has received five state award nominations and was named a School Library Journal Best Book of the Year. Another book I illustrated, Hogg, Hogg & Hog, released this past May, has also been warmly received.
Moore provided me with determination, ambition and a pride and passion for the work and skills that would feed and nurture my creative path. I am grateful that Moore has been part of my life’s journey as an artist, wife, mother and woman.
