The Galleries at Moore will hold a Gallery Opening and Artists Talk on Thursday, September 9 from 6 to 8 pm. Photographer and educator Wendy Ewald will present a talk on her work at 6:30 pm. Ewald will talk about Secret Lives: Collaborative Works with Children 1969-1999.

Moore held its first graduate commencement ceremony on August 14. Six students in the MA in Art Education program were the first to receive the degree. The historic event marks another milestone in Moore’s legacy as an innovator in the field of art education.

Philadelphia Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown will speak to the class of 2014 at Moore’s Convocation on Thursday, August 26.

U.S. Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA) announced today that Moore has been awarded a matching competitive federal grant under the Museums for America program. The grant will help the galleries introduce photographer Wendy Ewald's "Literacy Through Photography" work to Philadelphia through exhibitions and public programs.

Architect and Adjunct Professor Cara Carroccia has received a 2010 Merit Design Award from the Delaware Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Carroccia, who teaches in both the BFA and MFA Interior Design programs, received the honor for design work on a private residential project for clients in Northern Delaware.

Registration for Summer 2010 Young Artists Workshop classes is now open. Since 1922, Moore’s acclaimed Young Artists Workshop (YAW) has brought exciting and challenging content-rich art education to boys and girls in grades 1 – 12 living in the greater Philadelphia area. Moore’s YAW program enables young people to have direct involvement with art making and authentic learning experiences. Classes are offered year round with weekend classes offered during the school year and weekday courses offered during the summer. In 2009, YAW served 1,055 youth. Summer YAW classes start July 12.

A jury from the Samuel S. Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia has selected a piece of wearable art by Fine Arts: 3D senior Mary Carnes to purchase and present to Carol Haas Gravagno, the recipient of the organization’s 2010 Founder’s Award.

Moore alumnae and local artists have put their talents together to create one-of-a-kind piggy banks for Adopt a Pig that will be on view at a Preview Champagne Party this Friday, May 7, from 6 - 9 pm at B Square Gallery, 614 S. 9th Street in Philadelphia. All piggy banks are available for $250 each with all proceeds going towards strengthening the art therapy program that Adopt a Pig sponsors at hospitals and with other organizations throughout the region.

On Wednesday evening, April 28, students, staff and faculty gathered at Moore for the 2010 Senior Show Awards Ceremony in the Great Hall. The ceremony immediately preceded the VIP reception for the 2010 Senior Show: Emerging Artists and Designers.
